Issues and conflicts can arise even in the best run organisations. At Alva Academy we are committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning and teaching environment. We intend to achieve this through an expansion of the use of restorative approaches.
Punitive sanctions often failed to resolve disputes and their underlying causes. Through restorative interventions those involved in causing harm are provided with the opportunity to reflect upon their actions, take responsibility for the harm they have caused and think about how to make things right.
Restorative approaches allow relationships to be repaired, underlying issues to be aired and resolved and builds respect between those in the school community.
